Mannheim

Last Easter Weekend we paid a short visit to Mannheim. We stayed at the place of Au Mun who has been tranferred from HK to Mannheim to work for 15 months.

It was a long journey and we drove 5 hours to get there from our place in Holland. It was 10:15 PM when we finally arrived in Mannheim.

The next morning Au Mun took us for sightseeing in Schwetzingen. Much to our surprise we were amazed by the huge cherry blossom garden which was located inside the compound of a former royal palace.

In the afternoon we hopped on to Heidelberg which was just 15 minutes ride away from Schwetzingen. It was a bustling picturesque town by the river Rhine which was flooded by tourists. The highlight of the day was a tough hike up to the castle hill.

On early Sunday morning at 8:15 am we hit road and were on our way back to Holland. We departed early as we want to be in time for the Easter Celebration service in our church in Delft.

All in all it was a short but very enjoyable trip to Mannheim.
